Quicker, Cheaper Ways To Re-Invent Your Look

Estee Lauder Lip Look_Chispa MagazineThere’s something about the turn of a year, or even a month for some people, that makes us yearn for some kind of fresh start. Like many, you might be craving a dramatic change in your physical appearance, but simply can’t find the time to carry it out. Despite what it may feel like, you don’t have to dye your hair, lose 20 pounds or go on a weekend-long shopping trip to reinvent your look. Here are a few simpler tips to consider…

Accessorize
You don’t need to max out your credit card buying an entirely new wardrobe in order to make people think you have. Instead, save your money by updating those accessories that will get noticed most, such as your handbag, for instance. Because accessories can be worn day after day, they’re one of the most cost-effective ways to update your whole look. If you want to make sure it gets noticed, go for pieces made from faux crocodile leather, and similar exotic “skin” textures. If you want to make your outfits appear more high-end, I’d also recommend going for handbags with brass hardware, rather than silver. This will be slightly unexpected and make the piece look more expensive.

Bury the Hatchet with Your Wardrobe
When you’ve filled your wardrobe with all kinds of items that have monetary, or indeed sentimental value, it can be pretty hard to part with them for obvious reasons. If this sounds like you, but you find you’re only wearing a small fraction of the clothes you own, then shaving off all that excess will allow you to rediscover your classic items and determine what you should add to reinvent your look. Sometimes, all it takes is one or two new items that are unexpectedly modern and a touch unconventional, such as these slimming Careisma Scrubs. Whatever kind of style you’re going for, make sure you start off with a big purge of your wardrobe. Remove anything that you’re certainly never going to wear again, and make an effort to wear the things that haven’t come off the hanger in years. Soon enough, you’ll get a good feel for what suits you and what doesn’t.

Rediscover Red
Once we get past a certain age, a lot of women will get scared off by the sheer boldness and vibrancy of scarlet lipstick. However, if you can get past the stigma you’ve been carrying around for so long, this could be the perfect touch to round off your new look. The truth of the matter is that red is one of the most universal shades of lipstick there is, and can be a fantastic way to inject some impact and femininity into your outfit. Try to stick to reds that are more blue-based, as these are flattering on pretty much every skin tone, whereas the brighter shades of red can clash with certain people’s complexion. However, don’t be too narrow-minded when you’re shopping. Choosing a shade of lipstick is like choosing jewelry—the piece you’re automatically drawn to is almost always the right one.
