Six Tips for Men on How to Travel in Style

Six Tips for Men on How to Travel in Style-Chispa MagazineSome men love to travel and enhance their life experiences, while others simply dread being on the run at all times—especially if their job requires them to use planes, trains or cars more than they use their office at work. It is true that some flights make you feel like you haven’t slept in weeks or like you just escaped a medieval torture chamber, but to make things more tolerable, we need to work a little on our attitude and looks.

There are many tips on how to make a long haul flight more comfortable and many revolve around the idea of taking care of yourself. But today, we will spin around the idea of “looking good equals feeling good” and this is not a cheap trick: even science admits that to some extent the better you look, the better you feel. And rather than working on our looks ladies, here we share some tips on how you can help your man look stylish and cool to boost his self-confidence and make his travels fun.

Men… Here’r our 1,2,3,4,5,6 for you:

1. Dress Smart
If you dress to impress you will not only feel good about yourself, but your overall look will send a positive message to others. You may bump into unforeseen opportunities or get to make a powerful first impression to the people who you meet along the way or at your destination. A business partner or a client will be more willing to deal with you if you come out that plane as a sharp dressed man.

2. Wear a Clean, Fit, and Neat Outfit
By dressing sharp we don’t mean you have to wear your tuxedo in coach. However, you need to wear neat, clean and tidy clothes that don’t itch or rub and don’t get ruffled after a three-hour flight. You need to feel comfortable in your clothes and make sure they are not the sweating, staining or ruffling kind. From this point of view, you can wear a modern suit for a formal business meeting, a more casual jeans-and shirt combo for a semi formal client meeting or your most comfy jeans and T-shirt for a weekend getaway.

3. Use Only High Quality Luggage
Your luggage protects your personal items so it should be resilient to handling, throwing and carrying around and, last but not least, a well organized piece of luggage will help you travel more comfortably. You can travel light and find all your needed items in due time—which significantly lowers the travel stress levels. If you hurry to a business meeting, your best option is a leather messenger bag to keep your laptop, paperwork and personal stuff close by and protected. If you plan a long vacation, a carry-on roller suitcase makes things a lot easier. If it is just papers you carry from one company to another, a refined leather briefcase will signal that you are a serious businessman.

4. Mind Your Footwear
If your feet are unhappy, you will be downright miserable. You may take fancy business shoes to go with your business attire, boots to go with your jeans, sneakers or moccasins to match your laidback outfit, it doesn’t matter: they should all feel comfortable. They should not pinch, rub, burn your soles, make your feet sweat and so on. Always keep your shoes (even the canvas sneakers you wear) perfectly clean, polished and in good shape. A true gentleman won’t ever be caught wearing old, wrinkled, stained, and dusty or down at heel shoes.

5. Invest in Quality Sunglasses and Don’t Forget Them at Home
A good pair of shades will make your travel more comfortable even if you are driving or flying. You need quality protection against sunrays to be able to see, drive or even sleep in a plane or train. Avoid window glare and maybe take a nap with the help of darker, large sunglasses. And if you dressed up sharp enough, your shades will complete your overall attire in the best way possible.

6. Wear a Hat
Now we know that not everybody can pull of a Brando style and wear a trench coat and a panama, but you should however wear (or at least pack) a stylish piece of headwear. It can be a baseball cap (unless you wear a suit), a modern hip fedora, a straw panama, a beanie, whatever floats your boat and your personal fashion style and sense. The reason why you should have such a piece of head wear close by is that it can keep you safe from sun, rain, cold, air drafts and so on. Not to mention how cool it will make you look!

If you dress sharp and comfortable and you don’t forget how good you can feel just by looking cool, you can enjoy all your travels, no matter if they are for pleasure or for fun.
