Bathroom Break

Bathroom-Chispa MagazineThe bathroom is one of the hardest-working rooms in the home. A lot goes on there, and it can be a pretty busy place, especially in the morning when everyone is getting ready for work and school. But is your bathroom looking a bit worse for wear? Do you need to cut it a break, or even give it a bit of a makeover? Well, if so, why not read on for some bathroom decoration inspiration.

Walls
Obviously, a large part of the decor for any room is what you choose to cover the walls with. But the bathroom is a little different because not only do the wall need to look good, they need to stand up to the moisture, and repeated cleanings.

That mean tiles can make a perfect choice for a modern and chic looking bathroom that is practical as well.

Go for small rectangular tiles with beveled edges for a slightly retro look, and team with grey accessories to be bang on trend.

Just remember to get the professionals in to help you install them, as DIY tiling can be a massive headache.

Mirrors
One way of making the most of your bathroom is by using the mirrors as a decorative feature. Mirrors are a huge deal at the moment, especially in geometric shapes with metallic surrounds.

Go for a brushed gold oval mirror above the sink, or use smaller mirrors in a picture wall style alongside the bath, for added interest.

Taps
Another element of the bathroom that can make a big difference to the overall look is the taps that you choose for the sink and bath.

Most fashionable at the moment is the waterfall tap, which has an open top, so the water falls out the end of the faucet. Although you should check out the huge range of bathroom taps on offer before you settle on one design.

Towels
Now, towels are something that are needed in the bathroom, but they also add to the decor. That means you need to pick colors or patterns that enhance the overall look.

As a rule of thumb plain white bathrooms can act as a good contrast to bright towels in reds or yellows. But if you have other colors on the walls and bathroom suite, then it can be best to stick to neutral towel colors such as cream and taupe.

Accessories
Now, a word of warning here. The bathroom is a high use area that means any accessory that you do place in this space run two main risks. The first is that they could get easily broken, what will all those slippery surfaces and folks getting in and out of the bath, and drying themselves off.

The second is that they can get dusty or moldy pretty quickly because of the moist environment of the bathroom.

That means you need to pick something that is easy to clean and not too expensive, so when it does get a little worse for wear, you can easily replace it.
