Five Benefits Of Building Rather Than Buying Your New Home

Five Benefits Of Building Rather Than Buying Your New Home-Chispa MagazineIf the time has come to move to a new home, it’s important to consider all of your options. While most people choose to buy a ready built property, it can often work out cheaper to build your home yourself.

A scary prospect, but if you want the home of your dreams without increasing your budget, building it is the best option. Most people presume that buying a house and then altering it is cheaper than building one. However; often, that isn’t the case. Still not convinced to go down the DIY route? Nope ? We invite you to have a read of these five smart benefits of building your own home:

You can personalize it. When you move into a ready built property, if the kitchen is tiny, or the bathroom is the wrong shape, you just have to get on with it. When you build your home yourself, you can create it in any way that you like. Designing your own home might sound tricky, but with the help of an architect or a boutique home builder, it doesn’t have to be. If you want the bathroom to have two sinks or every bedroom to have a fireplace, you can have it. If you want a large garden that comes off of the kitchen’s French windows, it isn’t an issue, as you can design your home like that.

Everything will be under warranty. When you move into a pre-built home, often the material will be out of warranty. This means that if the roof starts leaking a few months after you move in, you will need to cover the cost of replacing it. However, when you build your home yourself, all of the material are new. This means that if, after a few months, there are any problems, you don’t have to pay to have them fixed. Plus, as all the features will be brand new, they won’t need replacing for at least ten years.

Your home will be more energy efficient. Today, the world is a green place, which means that new houses are built to higher standards of energy efficiency. This not only helps to save the environment and cut back on your energy usage, but it will also save you a lot of money. Whereas, older properties are much less energy efficient. While there are ways that you can increase their energy efficiency, they are almost always, expensive.

You will have less maintenance to do. Just like when you buy an older car it requires more maintenance than a newer model, the same applies to houses. If you want a home that has less maintenance to deal with, it’s best to opt to build the property yourself. You might think it’s just a case of doing an older property up. However, sometimes the work that older homes need, can be incredibly expensive.

Your home will contain new technology. By building your new home yourself, you can ensure that you have all of the newest technology. From thermostats, that can be programmed by your smartphone to lights that can be turned on with a click of your fingers. Unlike older properties, many newly built homes are designed with skylights. This makes these properties much lighter, helping to reduce the cost of electricity, as less lighting is needed.

There are so many smart benefits of building your new home yourself, the ones mentioned above are just a few of these. If it’s a toss up between buying a property and building your own, designing your own is an option worth considering.
