Heat Up Your Energy Knowledge With These Facts About Home Fuels

Heat Up Your Energy Knowledge-Chispa MagazineDo you know all there is to know about the different fuels that are available to heat your home? By learning all about the different fuel and power options, you will be able to make a better decision about which one is best for your home. Each type of fuel has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Here are all the facts you need to help you decide which fuel to use.

Coal
If you have an open fire, you will no doubt be burning a lot of coal. This is a very traditional method of heating. However, as coal is a fossil fuel, it is also quite a dirty fuel and is bad for the environment. Even though it is not environmentally friendly, many people still use coal as it creates a nice ambiance. Generally speaking, coal is a cheap fuel option. But the price depends on the area in which you live. As coal is a fossil fuel, we won’t be able to rely on it forever. Each country has their own reserve. For example, the USA’s reserve is estimated to last for another 235 years if we continue at the current rate of use.

Natural Gas
Natural gas is a relatively greener fuel compared to coal. There are many sources of natural gas around the world, including in the North Sea and of the coast of the Middle East and North Africa. This type of fuel is one of the most widely available to people. As a result, there are a lot of companies who supply the gas. This helps to bring down the prices, which remain relatively cheap compared to some other fuels. Gas is seen as a very convenient fuel, as houses that use it are on the main system. This means that it is available on tap.

Oil
Unlike with natural gas, oil heating isn’t on tap. Instead, you need to order an amount of oil from your local supplier. They will deliver it and add it to your tank. Oil is used for both central heating, and heating hot water in boilers. Most households that use oil are in areas that are not connected to the main gas supply. The price of oil regularly fluctuates, but more often than not it is slightly more expensive than gas. However, as most people do not order new oil throughout the summer, they will find it cheaper then. Unlike gas users, who will have to continue paying for their supply even if they do not use it.

Solar Energy
Solar energy is a green and sustainable form of energy that is now very popular. Many people are using it to help them make their property greener and eco-friendly. Solar power can be used for heating both hot water and central heating. However, many homes also have an alternative form of heating that they fall back on during the winter. That’s because when there isn’t much sunlight, the solar power won’t be as powerful.
