Women are often expected to want to spend their vacation shopping, lounging by a pool or relaxing at a spa. But a lot of us don’t want to enjoy our free time at that sedate pace. A more thrilling activity is better suited for adventure-loving women. If you have a need for speed, one of the best ways to fulfill it is an awesome off-road trip. No matter what you choose to drive or ride, from 4×4 to dirt bike, you can have fun going fast and getting muddy. There are some important things to think about if you want to spend your vacation going off-road. Start with the things below to ensure you get it right.
The Trip Basics
As with any trip, you have to start off with the where, when and who of your vacation. Where are the best places to go off-road, when is the best time to go, and who’s coming? For most people, it’s going to be a vacation that’s better with others. Plus, it’s much safer to have company. Start with finding some people who want to come with you. You no doubt have friends with shared interests. Next, consider some awesome places for your trip. Look up the best areas nearby, or go further afield if you want to explore somewhere different. If you choose a popular area, you might want to go when it’s not too busy. Remember to check the rules on off-roading in the area. There might be restricted locations.
Solidifying Your Plan
Once you’ve hashed out the basics, you need to start getting a plan in place. One of the biggest questions to answer is where you’ll be sleeping at night. Do you plan to set up camp at one campsite and head out from there each day? Perhaps you want to move around and stop at various campsites or other accommodation. You also need to know how you’re going to get around. You might decide that you’re taking everything with you on your bike, buggy, or in your car. This is likely going to require some light-weight packing. However, perhaps packing your toy onto a trailer or something else will be better if you want to be more comfortable.
Transporting Your Toys
If you want to be comfortable in a car or other vehicle, you need a way to transport your toys. Some are obviously much easier to carry than others. Bicycles can fit onto a rack at the back or on top of your car. But if you’re taking a quad bike or a dune buggy, it’s a bit more complicated. Some people love fifth wheel toy haulers to carry their off-road toys. They get to stay in a comfortable RV during their trip and have plenty of garage space for storage. Anyone who loves the outdoors can use them to transport a range of items, from bikes to boats. Using a trailer is another option if you’re not going to buy or hire an RV.
Remember to keep safety in mind when you’re planning your trip. Take measures to avoid getting lost and ensure you can get help if anything happens.
