Special Ways To Celebrate Your High School Senior, Now

High School Senior-Chispa Magazine

Yes, indeed… It’s a really special time as you walk your son or daughter through their last year of high school. They will no doubt be looking forward to their senior prom and celebrating with all their friends. But, there are also some special things you can do to celebrate with your family at home, now. It’s a sentimental and emotional time to see them so grown-up so spend some time commemorating and documenting this joyous occasion with some of the ideas below.

Have A Family Celebration
Your son or daughter is going to be so excited to be attending their senior graduation prom. But, you can also have a separate family celebration at home too. Choose a color and a theme that you know your child will love. These could be anything from their favorite flower or basketball team to their favorite movie or book. And then, get some props that work with the theme. Use bunting, lots of balloons and get a big 2017 sign! Bake graduation cookies or cupcakes which feature mortar boards and the year of their graduation. And, make sure to have all their favorite treats on the table.

Write your son or daughter a personal letter telling them why you’re so proud of them and what you hope their future will bring. If you have younger kids, get everyone to write a couple of lines about why they love their sibling and hand these out at the dinner table. This mini-party should be all about letting them know how proud you are and instilling the confidence in them to carry on pursuing their dreams. And remember, try not to cry.

Your child may be heading off to college, and you may be thinking about how much you are going to miss them. But, you don’t want them to end up feeling guilty and not enjoying the experience as much. Make this a time of great celebration that you have brought up a super kid! Don’t forget that you may need to lean on your friends a bit more when your child first leaves for college; there will be a period of empty nest syndrome.

Photographic Shoot
A great way to celebrate such a milestone in life is to commission a high school senior photographer for a beautiful family and solo shoot. Hiring a professional will ensure you get some timeless photos that will always be a sentimental keepsake. Your photographer will work on style and creativity with your child and create something beautiful that reflects the person they have become. You can also ask for some family portraits so you all have a place in this special moment too.

Graduation Gifts
You’ll want to get your child a special gift to congratulate them on all their hard work. If they are heading off to college, a new bicycle is a great gift they can use to get around campus. Or, you could buy them a year’s subscription to their favorite TV streaming service, such as NetFlix. If they don’t already have one, a new laptop or iPad is also a brilliant graduation gift. A really plush overnight bag or some cool luggage is also the perfect gift and may persuade them to visit back home a bit more too.  And lastly, a signature piece of jewelry is a really sentimental way to celebrate. For girls, you could get diamond stud earrings and for boys, you could get a luxury wristwatch.
