Perhaps the two of you have even discussed the future? If you’re still not entirely sure you’re ready for the ultimate commitment of marriage, here are ten telltale signs that perhaps you’re ready to take the vows:

  1. Shopping. Do most of your shopping trips happen to stop by a jewelry store? Then you probably think that a shiny new diamond could be the way forward. If he’s been checking out the same engagement ring more than once, then he might be ready to ask.
  2. Bridal Mags. Have you caught yourself checking out the latest bridal magazines? Do you have a pretty solid idea what your ideal wedding dress would look like? You may be just one step away from a fitting in a bridal boutique.
  3. Venues. If you know all the local wedding venues in town, then it sounds like you’ve been looking for the place you’ll say I do. If you’ve been checking them out as a couple, then now is the time to get that booking in.
  4. Spending Quality Time Together. Knowing each other inside and out is the ultimate test for a relationship. Knowing the good and the bad is ideal for marriage and a lifetime of making it work.
  5. Everyone Else. If your friends and family are persistently asking when the two of you are going to tie the knot, then relax. One of the best signs a marriage is meant to be is acceptance and blessing from your family.
  6. Friends. If the two of you are the best of friends, then you’ve got a pretty good thing going there. Friends, not lovers, last the distance when it comes to marriage.
  7. Kids: Have the two of you ever discussed your ideas about a family? If you both want the same thing in the future, chances are you’re on the same wavelength about marriage too.
  8. Getting Old: Do you often say funny comments about what the two of you will be like when you’re old and grey? It is usually a good sign that you expect to be in each other’s lives then.
  9. Is He About To? If you’ve had one or two moments when you thought he was about to get down on one knee, then perhaps you are ready for him actually to do that. You didn’t run a mile, so surely that’s a good sign you could be ready now?
  10. Can’t Be Without Each Other. Can you imagine life without him? Or does every major event of your life feature him by your side?

Getting engaged is a big step in anyone’s life. But, sometimes it is just a natural progression for a good relationship. It says you want that person to be in your future, for the lifetime, and most of all, you have both received confirmation from up above that you are to be joined as one. Are you ready?
