How to Integrate Link Building Into Your Digital Marketing Campaign

Mompreneur-Chispa MagazineAs a Mompreneur, it’s important that your business website is not only credible but visible – especially on search engines, like Google. One of the best ways to boost your rankings in search is to build a portfolio of links that all link back to your site! In the world SEO, this is called “link building.” If done right, this can increase search engine ranking and drive more traffic to your website.

How, you ask? Because having multiple backlinks makes your website appear more relevant in the eyes of Google’s PageRank algorithm. It’s almost like the saying “the more people you know, the more credible you appear.” But in this case, the more connections (via links) you have, the more reliable your website looks. Now that we’ve established the importance of link building, here are three ways to integrate it into your digital marketing campaign.

  • Create quality content.

The secret to a sustainable and successful campaign is the quality of content one creates for that campaign.Content that has intrinsic value to your audience and potential market is essential—nearly a necessity. This can come in the form of well-researched articles, blog posts, instructional videos, educational webinars, and creative infographics, among others. Once you have content that’s worth promoting, the rest will follow. Having something of value is more incentive for another website to not only share your content but link back to your site as a source!

  • Get other sites to link back to you.

The first point we brought up segues seamlessly into this second point we’re about to make. Establishing a network of links—called “backlinks”—among other site managers and owners is a reason why you’re creating quality content in the first place. The more links leading to your site, the more you appear trustworthy among visitors and search engines. Beyond other criteria, establishing trust is pivotal for SEO. According to Forbes, once you have Google’s trust, you’ll perform consistently across all other search engines.

  • Viral sharing and natural engagement.

While there really isn’t a fixed formula you can follow that will make your content go viral, there are techniques you can utilize to improve your content’s reach. One way is to share your content across your social media networks. Even though social shares do not influence Google’s search rankings, social media is still great in terms of distribution of content. Thus, gaining more readers and eyes on your website.

It’s important to note, however, that content needs to be engaging to go viral. Make sure that what you’re producing—whether it’s a blog post, an infographic, meme, etc—is entertaining or useful.

The end-all of any successful link building strategy is content—credible, trustworthy and share-worthy content. The more relevant it is, the higher it will fly with Google.
