When a brand is first born, it doesn’t have a personality. A brand doesn’t grow up. It doesn’t have likes and dislikes, or develop opinions on its own. It isn’t a human being. However, for your clients to really resonate with your brand, you need to make it seem like it might be. Giving your brand a full-blown personality is one of the best ways to target your market and create marketing materials. You need to consider everything, from your core values to the colors that represent you. Here’s how to build an incredible brand for your business:
Know What Your Audience Wants
The first step to creating an incredible brand for your business is knowing what your audience wants. When you know what they want, you can use your brand to target them and keep them interested. What will your audience respond to? Where will you find them? You’d brand a business differently if you were aiming it at 8 years olds rather than 18 years olds, for instance.
Come Up With a Voice
A brand voice is one of the most important tools when building a personality for your brand. How does your brand speak to your customers? Is it funny? Is it serious? Come up with a tone of voice and make sure that tone of voice is used whenever you interact with your customers. Use it on social media, your emails, and anywhere else you interact with them. This is how they’ll begin to recognize you and feel like they’re building a relationship with you.
Know Your Core Values
Knowing your core values is really important. As individuals we have values, so to brand your business you need to come up with some too. What does your brand care about? What will it do that other brands just don’t do? These values will become your selling points too, so make sure you think carefully about them.
Have a Strong Online Presence
A strong online presence will make you far more trustworthy. Make sure you have a quality website, and that you can be found on social media platforms. Keep them updated too; it isn’t enough just to have these things! If it looks like you don’t bother updating, you’ll look stale to customers and they might go elsewhere.
Your Logo + Tagline
A good logo and tagline make you instantly recognizable. Make sure you consider your marketing materials when coming up with this. You will put them on your business cards, custom clothing labels, posters, and any other materials you have made up.
Don’t Mimic
Whatever you do, don’t try to steal another brand’s personality. Don’t mimic them, as you will never be them. The key is to make yourself as unique as you possibly can, while staying true to your core values.
Consistency is Key
Make sure you’re consistent with your branding, and eventually you’ll strengthen your brand. Your audience will come to know you and want to work with you more often.
