How Technology Is Changing The Way We Treat HR

How To Convey Professionalism In Your Business-Chispa MagazineIf there’s one department in your company that always seems to be in chaos, it’s probably HR. HR departments are famously busy, thanks to a plethora of admin tasks. But now that technology has gone into high gear is this perception still true? Here are some of the ways technology is transforming HR.

Recruitment Is Going Digital
In the past, one of the biggest jobs for an HR department was to find new people to expand the company workforce. This was a time-consuming process, from the initial call for CVs to the interviews themselves. But now new technology has allowed search costs to fall dramatically. Companies can find out a lot about potential candidates through social networks like LinkedIn. And they’re better able to determine whether a person is somebody with the experience they need.

Ubiquitous Payroll Computing
It used to be the case that all payroll tax calculations were done by hand. But thanks to payroll 1099 software ETC, this is no longer the case. Payroll software is now able to calculate local, state and federal taxes automatically. And software is updated electronically, whenever the applicable tax rate changes. This has resulted in enormous time saving for HR departments. They’re now able to be far more focused on their “human” role rather than their “resources” role.

Accurate Performance Management
Assessing employee performance has always been a mainstay of every HR department. But recently, technology has allowed the collection of performance data to reach new highs. Before the advent of technology, measuring employee performance and doing reviews took time. Now that’s all changed with KPI software and other tracking apps.

What’s cool about these technologies is not just that they’re able to monitor unproductive employees. They’re also really useful for identifying areas where additional training might be needed. For instance, a whole team might be struggling to deliver on a project because they lack the right skills. Performance management software helps HR identify weaknesses and eliminate them.

Better Engagement Through The Cloud
As time passes, more and more millennials are entering the workforce. And according to the data, they’re a fickle bunch. For example, most millennials wouldn’t have any reservations swapping one job for another. If they didn’t like a job, they tend just to quit and move on.

It’s for this reason that HR departments have had to become more engaged with their employees. And thanks to new technologies, this has finally be made possible. Cloud computing and networking has allowed HR departments to connect with staff like never before. And it’s fostering a new collaborative environment where new recruits feel a part of the team. It’s also allowing staff to voice their concerns instantly.

Compliance Is Easy
If you went into any office in the 1990s or early 2000s, you’d have found a big room with boxes of paperwork. It was all necessary for HR to remain compliant. But thanks to new technology, all this paperwork can be stored in the cloud. This means that HR departments aren’t the mess that they used to be. They look just like any other respectable part of the office.
