What You Need To Know When You’re Hosting A Charity Event

Event Planning 101-Chispa MagazineMaking time for charitable causes can be such a rewarding experience. Even though it may not always feel like it, it can be enjoyable too. When you’re working with a charity or helping to raise funds, you might feel like you have no idea where you should start. If you’re new to hosting charity events and need a little guidance, you’ve found the perfect read!

It might not seem easy at first, but you can have a successful fundraising event that makes a difference. You can make sure that guests and donors have a good time and that all of your efforts have contributed to a good cause. All you need to do is have a plan and see it through.

Fit The Cause
During the planning process, one of the first things that you’re going to want to do is work out what your fundraising event will be. Not only do you want to make sure that it’s efficient at raising funds for the cause, but the type of event you choose should fit in too. When you ensure that your event sits will and suits the cause, supports will be interested in attending and raise funds too.

Focus On Your Goal
Once you’ve chosen the type of charity event that you’d like to host, such as a gala or fair, you’re going to want to work out the goal. You may already have a fundraising target in mind, and that could have helped you to decide on the type of event to host. But, if you’ve not set anything yet, now’s the time to do it. You need to know what amount needs to be raised before you start the official planning stage. Then, you’ll be able to figure out what you can do to reach your target.

Choose A Location
With a fundraising target and suitable event in mind, you can then start thinking about locations. Depending on the charity that you’re fundraising for, you may or may not have access to a readily available location, such as a building that the foundation is based in. If not, you’re going to want to find a place that’s within budget and that will set off the overall feel of the event. For a formal event, you’ll want to make sure that the location is in keeping with it, rather than cut back on costs and disappoint paying guests.

Home In On The Details
When you’ve nailed the location, you’re going to want to focus on the details. For a fair or fete, you’re not only going to need stalls and products or games, but you’re also going to need volunteers to run them. And that’s not all. You need to think about all of the finer details too. Name badges for the volunteers, prizes, and even food are all things that could be required on the big day.

Sell, Sell, Sell
And finally, when the details of the event are confirmed, you’re going to want to sell as many tickets, sign as many sponsors, and get as much interest as possible. When you’re raising funds, this is the most important part. You’ll probably take donations at the event, and you may even host an auction, but without getting guests to attend, those fallback options aren’t even options at all.
